Musea Records critic promo sheet for TEMPANO 1999

El fin de la infancia / Childhood's end

From the powerful opening , through an amazing 24 min. epic and into the refreshing and magnificent ending, this new work by Tempano is destined to become a landmark in the progressive world.

Beautifully crafted and impressively detailed , the experience of listening this CD is something you should not miss, where you will be transported to a universe of sounds, especially on the title track, (warning ! listen to this track with earphones!!), where you will discover the astonishing abilities and the quality of playing of this 4 musicians from Venezuela , as well as their special guest , Peter Pejtsik the Cello player from the Hungarian Band "After Crying"

This CD is 95 % instrumental , but the few instances where Pedro uses his wonderful voice are simply beautiful, His guitar play shows him among the best. Gerardo(drums) and Miguel(bass) are not your typical players , (supporting the keyboards and guitars with a monotonous and simple rhythmic), this 2 guys are something beyond imagination , each one develops their own melody that melts and compliments the ones coming from the guitar and keyboards , and Della Noce clearly shows that among keyboard players , with his classical training , his is right at the top.

It is always unfair to compare Bands that have their own signature sound , but it seems to be a necessary thing to do , so if you want to have an idea of what this CD sounds like , get , Chamber Rock and Classic music and if you had the chance to listen to the reissue of Atabal Yemal's 3 bonus track , you might get close to imagine what this CD is like , and certain influences can be felt from Crimson (Red era) , and few moments from Happy the man.

Creative , contemporary and original, listeners should be prepare to have all their senses extended. Tempano leaves you in no doubt that they are one of the best bands today, Childhood's end is one of those rare , all consuming CD's, where your life takes on a new colour and texture while you are listening to it , it meets every requirement a progressive band can offer, absorbing and inspired.

Tempano has exceeded themselves , and with an album as Atabal Yemal to their credit that is a remarkable achievement , certainly , Childhood's end is the last jewel this millennium will offer.

This one comes with our highest Recommendation, a must have for any serious Progressive connoisseurs.
