Tempano ...en reclamacion - 1983 (Re-issue)

Tempano was born in 1977, when the members of 2 bands, Diedra and Magia decided to join, the first line up was Pedro Castillo, Miguel Angel Echevarreneta , Gearado Ubieda and Leonardo Arias , the quartet suffered several changes and for a while they were even a sextet that included Jose Benmaman and Jose "Pirulo" Gonzales.

At the beginning of 1979, in March, the core members of the band were, Pedro Castillo (guitars, vocals), Giuglio Cesare Della Noce (keyboards), Miguel Angel Echevarreneta (Bass) and Gerardo Ubieda (drums).
By November of that same year the first recordings took place, and the result of the sessions became the album Atabal Yemal.

1980
Atabal Yemal was not yet available when the first drastic change took place, Giuglio Cesare Della Noce left the band and was replaced by a young keyboard player named Iker Gastaminza .
Soon after, while recording for what was going to be the following album in the same vein of Atabal Yemal, Pedro Castillo left the band. That was a bit too much for Tempano.

They continued as a band but with a different orientation, so the beginning of the 80's saw a new Tempano that had nothing to do with the old one, the style was more POPgressive, influenced by Saga and Asia , the resulting band became a Pop icon in Venezuela.

Pedro Castillo became a member of a band called Aditus and recorded 8 albums with them from 1980 until 1992 when he went solo and made two albums before rejoining with old mates from Tempano.

His first LP with Aditus was released in 1980, called "Fuera de la ley" (Outlaw), containing the song "Fantasma" (Ghost) wich was the last time Pedro played progressive symphonic rock.
Afterwards Aditus became a pop sensation heavily influenced by The Police.
At the same time Pedro was working incognito and in parallel with some members from Tempano in a new wave project called PP's
, they recorded 3 albums .

After leaving Tempano in 1979 Giuglio Cesare Della Noce teamed up with Julio Cesar d'Escrivan and did some recordings. Later on both joined with members of another well known band called "Estructura" to form the band "Etzal".
d'Escrivan left soon after and Giuglio Cesare formed another band "Aurora"

In 1983 Giuglio Cesare rejoined with Miguel Angel Echevarreneta in a project called Atabal (right), a full album was recorded but never released.

1981
Tempano continued in 1981 with Gerardo Ubieda, Miguel Angel Echevarreneta now playing guitars, Iker Gastaminza and 2 new members, Victor Fiol (Bass), and Zdenek Matousek, (voice) . This formation recorded the second album called "Pesadilla sin Final " (Endless Nightmare) and still with some touches of progressive rock, the album could be described as a blend of Saga and Asia.
The band was clearly looking for a new style wtch they approached a year later .

1983
Right after the release of "Pesadilla sin final", Miguel Angel Echevarreneta left the band and a new guitar player called Ruben "Micho" Correa joined.
In 1983 the band went back to the studios, by then with only one surviving member, drummer Geardo Ubieda, they recorded "...en reclamacion " (...in claim) and a mega hit emerged from that album called "El Esequibo".
To this day the song can be heard in the radio stations in Venezuela and is probably the song that has more cover versions in the country. The album was a commercial success due to this song and the band went on to play big concerts on every major city.

In 2002 Gerardo Ubieda released this album as a special edition from the original cut recently found. The master tapes from the eighties trilogy continues lost.

1984
Ruben"Micho" Correa was replaced by a North American guitarist called Richard Popovic, this formation released in 1984 "Seduccion Subliminal" (Subliminal Seduction) the most mature project, still in the vein of Saga
After this album the band lost their publishing house when it was sold. The band continued rehearsing until Victor Fiol abandoned Tempano and continued with
The Franklin Holland Project. Gerardo Ubieda and Iker Gastaminza continued with a totally new Tempano.

1987 - 1988
Three years passed before the band emerged again with a completely new formation, only with drummer Gearado Ubieda as the sole survivor from the origianl line up.
This was another band that did not keep any similitude with any of the formations in the past, they recorded the commercially success album called Just "Tempano".
And by 1988 the last album "El tercer lado" (The third side) was released.
For the next 10 years Tempano was silent.

1998 - The reunion
The unexpected happened in 1998, after 18 years of not being together in the same room, the original members: Pedro Castillo, Giuglio Cesare Della Noce, Miguel Angel Echevarreneta and Gerardo Ubieda met again due to the re-release of Atabal Yemal.
They had agreed to record 3 unreleased tracks from 1978 which were to be included as bonus tracks, what happened next is that for the first time in the history of the band a solid line up has been together for over 4 years working with more enthusiasm than ever in new music and projects.
Who could have guess that in the end was the beginning?
